Discover our unique kimono-style cardigan, inspired by Japanese tradition
The kimono-style cardigan is a garment that takes inspiration from traditional Japanese clothing but with a shorter and more modern cut. Unlike a traditional kimono, it is worn differently. In Japan, the men’s kimono cardigan is called “samue” and is highly regarded by the fashion-conscious in Harajuku. The samue kimono is both comfortable and enjoyable to wear throughout the year.
In the Edo period, monks wore the samue while working in temples. Made from linen, the fabric of our Japanese samue jacket is breathable, making it an ideal choice for all seasons. The three-quarter sleeves are loose, giving it an oversized and trendy look. Pair this samue cardigan with blue jeans and a white t-shirt for a unique blend of urban and traditional Japanese style.
