Choose this beautiful pair of light wood Japanese chopsticks

Cooking chopsticks were introduced to Japan in the 7th century, although their exact origins remain uncertain. It is highly likely that they were imported from China, where they were used for religious purposes as early as the 12th century BC.

These Japanese chopsticks are made from natural bamboo wood and are embellished with a string at their end. They are available in two colors: black and gold. Hashi chopsticks are distinguished by their shorter length, slender shape, and more pronounced tip on the lower ends.

Here are our suggestions for optimal use of these Japanese utensils:

🥢 To use Asian chopsticks, place the first chopstick (stationary) between the hollow of your hand and your ring finger, then place the second one between the same hollow, ring finger, and middle finger. The second chopstick should make a pinching motion to pick up the food.

🥢 Good to know: It is recommended to use these wooden chopsticks with the left hand, not to stick them horizontally in the rice bowl, not to lick them, and to use a chopstick rest (hashi oki).

🥢 Also, avoid pointing at someone with these traditional chopsticks, as it is considered very rude. Similarly, we highly advise against using them to transfer food from one dish to another. Prefer using a spoon instead.
